ARTOLOGICA
Michele Banks Art of Science
The paintings in Forces of Nature (2025-2026) consider the invisible forces that shape our world. These forces include everything from gravity and the motion of atoms to the astonishing power of human cognition. A collection of recent works in ink on yupo (polypropylene paper), these works incorporate concepts from physics and biology, on scales ranging from the microscopic to the unimaginably massive. But make no mistake, this is art, not scientific illustration. The freehand lines wobble; the ink flows where it pleases. This is the beauty and grandeur of science as seen through a very human lens.
